Ashley Harris

Ashley HarrisI was born and raised right here in Melbourne, Florida, and attended a Christian school in the area from K4-12th grade. It was at that school that I found my faith in Christ. I was in middle school and struggling with finding out who I wanted to be. I was dabbling in different things and not happy with where my life was headed. God began tugging at my heart in a chapel service; the evangelist Jamie Ragle had come to speak to us. I fought that tug for a couple of weeks and then gave my life to God one evening in my bedroom. From that moment on I just wanted to live a life worthy. I called my friend, who was making the same mistakes I was, the next day and told her about my decision. She made the same decision. I spent the rest of my school days organizing bible studies and prayer meetings on campus and trying to break out of my shy persona so God could use me more.

When the time came to choose a college, God led me to Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Choosing a college was the first time in my life I really felt God’s undeniable leading and I have tried to follow His lead every step since then. My time at Liberty was fast, but amazing. I spent the first year being molded by God, searching His will for my life. My second year at Liberty I was a prayer leader for a small group of girls. God was quickly changing me from a terribly shy girl to a leader for Him. By the third year, I was the Spiritual Life Director for a hall of about 40 girls. At Liberty, I studied Elementary Education with emphasis on English and History. After three years, I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education.

The original plan was to remain in Lynchburg to teach, but God had other plans. I met my husband during the Christmas break of my senior year. We dated long distance for six months and then I moved home to Melbourne. Once home, I began to search for the teaching position that God had set aside just for me. I interviewed at CCS in July of 2007 and was hired the same month. That makes this my third year at Community Christian School and every day of it has been a blessing to me. I am so thankful to God for being put in this place. CCS is the only place I have taught and it has made me the teacher that I am. I love being in a place in which I am showered with prayer every morning and able to shower my class with prayer whenever I want to! I look forward to all that God has in store for me as long as He has me here at CCS.

Ephesians 3: 20-21 “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
