FAQ

Is Community Christian School accredited?  Yes.  Community Christian School is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).  This accreditation ensures that the school meets or surpasses ACSI's high standards with regard to all aspects of school operation including spiritual foundation, teacher qualifications, educational programs, and business practices. Is Community Christian School affiliated with a specific church or denomination?  No.  Community Christian School is Brevard County's only fully independent Christian school.  We are a discipleship-oriented school that makes it a priority to teach God's Word without a denominational bent.  Our focus is to teach God's word and guide our students and families in confirming and maintaining a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. What curriculum do you use?  In keeping with our school's purpose - to disciple students in God's word, to help them develop their God-given gifts and talents, to discover God's purpose for their lives, and to equip students to be productive Christian leaders in their communities - our instructional program is designed with God's word at its heart.  Whether utilizing Christian or secular publishers, our program is biblically integrated and intended to instill a biblical Christian worldview in each student.  Our elementary program incorporates materials from ABeka, Purposeful Design, and Write Source publishers.  Our secondary program incorporates materials from ABeka, Bob Jones, Purposeful Design, Apologia, Mosdos Press, Glencoe, Prentice Hall, LifeWay Christian Resources, Summit Ministries, and Crown Financial Ministries.  Students in 1st through 10th grades are administered the Stanford Achievement and Otis Lennon Ability tests on an annual basis to provide student achievement data and provide critical data necessary for evaluating our educational program.  10th grade students participate in the ASVAB career orientation exam each fall.  Secondary students are given the PSAT (Practice SAT test for college entry) and are guided in the process of completing the College Board SAT (for college entry) and/or the ACT (for college entry). Elementary and Middle School students are involved in weekly special activity classes including music, art, and physical education.  Secondary students have well-rounded elective options including classes in music, drama, dance, art, physical education, yearbook/journalism, and multi-media.  All students are involved in daily Bible study and participate in weekly Chapel. Honors and AP courses are available at the high school level for those students choosing a higher level of academic rigor.  Community Christian School has partnered with the Florida Virtual School program as a supplement to our middle and high school course offerings and is a dual-enrollment partner with Brevard Community College. What types of extra-curricular activities do you have?  Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities including Chess and Drama clubs; elementary sports - swimming, soccer, basketball; JV and Varsity sports (6th - 12th grades) - swimming, volleyball, basketball, and baseball; Jr. and Sr. High retreat opportunities; and participation in Brevard County Science and Art Fairs. Do you have a school lunch program?  Yes.  Community Christian School offers a nutritionally-balanced lunch that is catered by The Christian Culinarian.  Lunches are ordered and paid for on a weekly basis through the "EagleWeb" our online school management program. Do you have before/after care for students?  Yes.  Before care is provided from 7:00 a.m. each morning until 8:10 a.m.  After care is provided from dismissal until 5:45 p.m. each afternoon. Do you follow the Brevard County Public School System calendar?  In part - there are some differences with regard to inservice days.  Community Christian School takes a full week off at Thanksgiving, at which time our teachers do their professional development.  Christmas and Spring Breaks are taken at the same time as the Brevard County Public Schools. Does Community Christian School have a Home School Participation policy?  Yes.  Home school students at the elementary level are welcome to sign up for our extra-curricular activities.
