In the last days of Jesus’ earthly ministry he told his disciples to “go into all the world and preach the good news unto all creation…” He also told them “that if they love Him they would keep His commandments”. Two of the gospels recount this same commandment given to His disciples - they got it! This command from Jesus is important to Him and they should be focused on what is important to God and not what man may see as important and therefore as He sent them to “go” we too should “go”.
Our stated mission is to equip students for life. A part of equipping is providing opportunities for our students to gain experience in the mission field be it in their own homes, at another school, as they leave for college, in the work place or somewhere in full time ministry, we need to equip them. Jesus did not just send His disciples into the world without first spending time with them, also going with them as they shared the good news, ultimately leaving them with instructions when they go and what to do when they get there. It is incumbent upon us to do the same with His direction.
Training for Christian Missions should begin with thoughtful prayer in order to discover what God will have us do before we go. This process should be continuous throughout the journey as He unfolds His plans for us.
Establishing a mission for our students to participate in may be:
- Older kids adopting the younger ones and mentoring them
- Going to locations in our community to offer help and hope to those less fortunate
- Leaving the country in order to help others in need
These activities take prayer, planning and preparation of our student’s spirits in order to bear fruit.
To date, our students have served our local community and Domestic US with specific projects to area assisted living facilities, partnering with Love INC, Space Coast Women and Children’s Center, Brevard Hunger Project, maintenance projects with local churches in the area, and a mission outreach to Denver Dream Center in Colorado. Our students and staff have partnered with Stop Hunger Now to pack 10s of thousands of meals for hungry people in the United States and other countries. Foreign mission projects have included a trip to Haiti to serve Good Shepherd’s Ministry, trips to Costa Rica with Arbol de Vida Christian Ministry, and to Guatemala to serve with Paradise Bound Ministries and Casa Shalom. Our teams are involved in everything from children’s Bible school activities to construction – all with the purpose of sharing the love of Jesus in a tangible way and sharing His gospel to “all the world.”
