"Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord..." Ephesians 5:19
At least twice weekly, our elementary students enjoy participating in music class. There they learn how to use the blessing of music to worship our Lord. In addition, they are introduced to the basics of music theory and have the opportunity to use a variety of instruments. The upper elementary students are introduced to the responsibilities of worship team and often lead their classmates in worship during the elementary chapel. Throughout the year, the elementary students are involved in chapel presentations and in the Christmas and Spring musical productions.
Middle school students enjoy Music in rotation with Art on a weekly basis. These students are further trained in the skills and responsibilities of leading worship through song, and gain a deeper appreciation for music through projects and composer studies.
Secondary students are taken to a deeper of understanding of music theory and use of instruments in the elective classes available to them. Students may choose from vocal ensemble, worship team, and guitar. Our worship team is responsible for planning and executing the worship portion of chapel each week. They develop spiritually as they are taught the depth of their responsibility as Christian leaders through directed Bible study and mentoring.
Our Music department works closely with the Drama and Art departments to create a well-rounded Fine Arts program for our students, with the ultimate purpose of leading our students to praise and glorify the Lord with their gifts and talents
"Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation! Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song." Psalm 95:1-2
